Setup

The Land Art Generator Initiative sets one of the hardest briefs in competition work: energy infrastructure a community could love. For the 2025 cycle, Object Territories answered with Prismatic Parasol, a canopy for Marou Village, Fiji, that gathers sun and rain for a village that needs both.

Every entrant gets the same site, the same program, the same deadline. The images have to argue the case on their own.

Tension

A jury sees hundreds of boards in a sitting. Most competition renders shout for attention and blur together by the third table. A pavilion whose whole argument is quiet usefulness cannot be sold loudly. The frames had to show sun being caught and rain being kept, in Fijian light, and make the jury feel the village around it.

Approach

oaki produced the competition set for Object Territories. The frames were built around the canopy's two jobs: light overhead, water below, the village always in frame.

Outcome

At the 2026 Architizer A+Awards, Prismatic Parasol received a Special Mention in Unbuilt Sustainable Non-Residential. It followed an Editor's Choice win at the 2025 Architizer Vision Awards and a Platinum at the 2025 Design Skills Awards.
